A Bit About Alyssa
Alyssa (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a counseling style focused on warmth, empathy, and non-judgment. She has worked in inpatient, PHP, and outpatient settings and enjoys supporting individuals with eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns. Her approach is person-centered, frequently incorporating Somatic Experiencing (SE), CBT, mindfulness skills, Gestalt, solution-focused, and motivational interviewing techniques. Alyssa also finds it very effective to help individuals see their struggles as stories and empowers them to rewrite the stories of their lives.
As a somatically-trained clinician, Alyssa brings the refreshing and evidence-based practice of Somatic Experiencing (SE) to our IOP. Through bottom-up processing, SE helps to build awareness of the felt sense and ultimately resolves trauma and stress that accumulates in the body.
When Alyssa is not at work, she enjoys hiking, traveling, cooking, and performing in a local a capella singing group.
