Deidra Sledge, LCSW

A Bit About Deidra

Deidra (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience in the mental health field, providing services to children, adolescents, adults, and families across a variety of settings. Over the years, she has supported clients in navigating challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, suicidality and self-harm, and family conflict.

Deidra began her specialized training in eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns under the supervision of Kristin Dahland, LCSW. While her initial goal was to provide outpatient support for individuals transitioning from Wild Oaks, she discovered a passion for recovery work and went on to facilitate groups within Wild Oaks.

​

In her practice, Deidra acknowledges the harmful impact of diet culture, shame, and systemic messages about bodies. She believes healing does not come from fighting against the body, but from befriending it, rebuilding trust, and resisting oppressive narratives. To support this process, she integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Problem Solving Therapy, all of which are provided through a trauma-informed, anti-racist, and intersectional lens.

Outside of Wild Oaks, Deidra also serves as a Therapist and a Clinical Director at Richmond Creative Counseling. 

​

She enjoys reading books, collecting spiritual trinkets, and recently became interested in genealogy.
